The Afghanistan cricket team will play single Test against India from June 14. For this, Afghanistan has announced the 16-member Test team. Through this match, Afghanistan will make its debut in Test cricket.
Focusing the Indian spin pitch, Afghanistan has given place to four spinners in their team. These four spin bowlers are Mujib-ur-Rehman, Amir Hamza, Rashid Khan and Zaheer Khan. Of these players, Rashid Khan and Mujib ur Harman have performed brilliantly in the recently finished Indian Premier League in 2018.
Mujib played for Kings XI Punjab in IPL, while Rashid Khan played from Sunrisers Hyderabad which reached the finals. Left-handed spin bowler Jahangir Khan was injured playing on behalf of Rajasthan during the IPL. Now he is completely fit and ready to return. Zaheer Khan has also participated in the Under-19 World Cup in Afghanistan.
This time Afghanistan’s Under-19 team had made the journey to the semi-finals in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Apart from these three, fourth spinner, Amir Hamza was the highest wicket-taker in domestic first-class cricket.
Asghar Stanikzai was appointed the team captain for this historic Test. Under his leadership, the Afghan team will play their first International Test match against India.
Ajinkya Rahane will replace Virat Kohli as captain of the Indian team in this Test match starting from June 14. Virat Kohli was about to play county cricket in England for the cricket series in England during this period. But now he is out of the county cricket as well due to his neck injury.
