Asia Cup 2018: Bangladesh inaugurated the tournament with a big setback

Bangladesh cricket team has suffered a setback on Saturday in the Asia Cup 2018 inaugural match. Team opener Tamim Iqbal has been out of the tournament due to injury in the wrist. However, Iqbal showed to be a strong player and after coming out to bat against Sri Lanka after being stripped from the hospital. He remained unbeaten after scoring 2 runs.

Its noteworthy that Tamim Iqbal got injured on the left hand wrist in the match against Sri Lanka in Dubai. The left-handed batsman was immediately taken to the hospital, where after scanning, it was discovered that he had to stay away from the cricket action for at least 6 weeks.

Iqbal was hurt in the second over of Bangladesh’s innings. On the ball of Sri Lanka pacer Suranga Lakmal, Iqbal tried to pull a shot and the ball hit straight on his left hand wrist.Iqbal was then playing scoring 2 runs on 3 balls.

The medical issue

The scan found out that there is a crack on his little finger of left hand.

Bangladesh’s chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricinfo, “We took Tamim Iqbal to the hospital because he was serious. It was very painful and it was not possible for him to continue the batting. ”

Tamim Iqbal will leave for Bangladesh on Sunday. Nazmul Hossain Shanto will be included in the team in his place. The Bangladesh team will play their next match against Afghanistan on September 20.

Earlier, despite this big setback, in the inaugural match of Asia Cup 2018, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by a big margin of 137 runs.
