Awards at Indian Premier League 2018: All That You Need To Know

Yet another enthralling edition of the Indian Premier League came to an exciting end. The yellow brigade of the Chennai Super Kings made a stunning comeback after two years. MS Dhoni’s men lifted the trophy and proved all those wrong who felt that this team would not even make it to the qualifiers. 

Wankhede witnessed the much anticipated final between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both these teams remained table toppers all along the journey of IPL 2018. After contesting each other in the first qualifier, they again locked horns in the final of IPL 2018. 

CSK: The Champion of the Champions

At the end of the auctions, everyone spent that Chennai has a squad of oldies. Many said that this pool of aged players won’t stand the zest the promising youngsters would bring in. But here we are! Chennai Super Kings have defied every assumption and have emerged as the ultimate champions.

There were many great performances along the growth of the tournament. There were some spectacular individual performances which set the benchmark for the upcoming editions. Be it about some handsome batting performances, lethal bowling spells or unbelievable catches, this IPL had it all. 

IPL 2018: All about Awards 

The presentation ceremony post the final game was not just about the winner’s trophy. There was a huge list of awards which added to the final colours of this year’s IPL edition. Here is the list of all awards as IPL 2018 concluded. 

Orange Cap

Orange Cap was won by Kane Williamson, the SRK skipper. He led his team from the front but could not win the cup. Kane Williamson showed sublime form in this IPL. Kane Williamson scored 735 runs from 17 games. His batting form took the oppositions by storm. 

Purple Cap 

The purple cap was won by Andrew Tye. The Aussie bowler who played for KXIP picked up 24 wickets from 14 matches. But his heroics with the ball could not take KXIP to the qualifiers. 

Emerging Player of the Season  

Rishabh Pant too showed great form in this year’s IPL. For having amassed 684 runs in IPL 2018, he bagged the prestigious award for the  ‘Emerging Players of the Season Award.’ 

Stylish Players of the Season 

This award too was bagged by Rishabh Pant. His stylish shots added immense grace and style to IPL 2018. He hit 37 sixes and 68 fours in the tournament. He also scored a stylish century in the tournament. 

Perfect Catch of the Season 

How can we forget that spectacular catch by Trent Boult that dismissed Virat Kohli? Trent Boult was rewarded for his stunning catch with the award for the ‘Perfect Catch of the Season.’

Most Valuable Player of the Season 

The Carribean star Sunil Narine won this award. He was highly valuable for the Kolkata Knight Riders but unfortunately, he could not take his team to the finals. Nevertheless, his contribution to the fortunes of the team was massive. He also won the Super Striker of the Season Award. 

Fair Play Award

The Mumbai Indians had a miserable tournament this year. The defending champions never looked in control of their campaign. But Mumbai Indians ultimately had something to cheer about as the team won the fair play award for IPL 2018.

Other Awards

Pitch and Ground Award – Eden Gardens (for grounds which hosted more than 7 games)

Pitch and Ground Award- Punjab Cricket Association (for grounds which hosted less than 7 games)
