ENG vs IND: Selectors can drop Alastair Cook for the 4th Test

England’s opener and former captain Alastair Cook and wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow can stay out of the fourth match of the ongoing Test series against India. The fourth test is to be played in Southampton.

Cook is going to be a father for the third time and because of this, he will not play the fourth match. Cook’s wife Elise Hunt can give birth to a child on August 30. At the same time, Bairstow was injured in finger while keeping the wickets in the third Test.

The fourth Test match is scheduled to begin on August 30. The English team management believes that Cook will probably be available for the fifth and final Test of the series. He is the highest run scorer in Test format for England. He has scored 12225 runs in 159 test matches so far. It has 32 centuries and 56 half-centuries.

Problem with Alastair Cook

Cook still need to perform well in the series against India. He scored 13 and 0 in the first Test in Birmingham. At Lord’s he scored 21 runs.

He was also not able to do anything special in Nottingham He was got out by Ishant Sharma on the score of 29 runs in the first innings. In the second innings, he was sent back by Ishant once again and scored only 17 runs.

Ishant has got Cook out 11 times in his Test career. It is believed that England wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow can not play in the fourth Test. His finger is hurt. In this series, the possibility of India’s return has increased significantly.
