IPL 2018: Women IPL Match before the Play-offs

Since the Indian team’s performance in the Women’s World Cup last year, it is being said that there is a need to focus more on women’s cricket in the country. Demand is also rising that women’s T20 league should also start on the lines of IPL. Now the women IPL Match will be organised or if it is to rehearse the scheme. BCCI has decided to organize an exhibition match on this same sequence.

This match will be played on 22 May in Mumbai just before the starting of the current IPL Play-offs. According to the sources, this match is to begin on the Wankhede from 2:30 pm onwards. The match will be broadcasted directly on Star Sports.

The pattern of the Match

This match will be played entirely on the same pattern of the IPL. Four overseas players will also become the part of both the teams’ playing eleven. According to the news, every team will have 10 Indians and five overseas players each. BCCI is in touch with foreign boards like Australia and England, and soon the names of the players will be announced.

The objective of the Match

The objective of organizing this match is to assume the mood of women cricketers towards this issue. Also, the fan following of the match can be observed. This match will be a glimpse of the women’s league which can be started soon.

However, Mithali Raj, captain of India’s women’s cricket team, is not very excited about this matter. She believes that there is much left to do for women’s cricket before that. Mithali also quoted that along with Infrastructure, the number of players as bench strength is also a matter of concern.
