Sri Lanka opener Danushka Gunathilaka was earlier interrogated after a Norwegian woman was reportedly ravished in a hotel room by one of his acquaintance at a team hotel in Kollupitiya, Colombo.
Investigation acknowledged that the cricketer had paid the bills and his friend, had allegedly raped the Norwegian woman when the cricketer has crashed in the same room.
The suspect was restrained and remanded in custody till tomorrow by the Colombo Fort Magistrate. The police, however, said the affirmation do not point to the opening batsman’s personal involvement in the case.
Gunathilaka was later suspended for his correctional violation has been handed a six-match adjournment with sudden effect for breaching the ‘Player Code of Conduct and Contractual Obligation’, by Sri Lanka Cricket board who notified on Friday (July 27).

His ban for six international games is held responsible for two code violations – three for his latest transgression and three from a previous suspended sentence of one year, which Gunathilaka was already serving since 18th October, 2017, for breaching the ‘Player Contract’.
Sri Lanka Cricket also announced that the 27-year-old will not be paid for the second Test against South Africa, during the course of which he was in breach of the contract. No bonus or payments with regards to the game will be given to him.
Danushka Gunathilaka has been left out of the 15-man squad to play a five-match one-day international series against South Africa starting at Dambulla on Sunday.
