‘Rashid Khan,’ this name loudly echoes in the world of international cricket these days. Who would have imagined that from the dreaded streets of Afghanistan would emerge a star? We are sure that we making no mistake in calling him a star for he surely is one. 

At just 19 years of age, he has won some great accolades from the cricket fraternity.  Rashid Khan has got everyone in awe of him and has garnered a fan base all across the globe. We are not sure if Afghanistan international cricket campaign will go places or not but this guy surely will! He is the greatest prodigy in modern day cricket and he is spinning it around like a boss. At just 19 he has become invincible and indispensable. 

The Beginning 

Rashid Khan’s first footsteps in international cricket made way in the year 2015. He made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in October 2015. Just a few days later he made his T20 debut against the same team. 

No one knew then that this young and nervous debutant will make the best batsmen around the world feel nervous. His hike to glory has been an amazing journey ever since he made his mark in international cricket. He now stands as a tall inspiration for the people of Afghanistan who dwell under the fear of terror. This right-arm leg break bowler has made the best batsmen of the generation fear him. 

Rashid Khan and IPL 

In 2017 he became the highest paid associate player in the history of the IPL. He fetched a contract for 4 crores in the IPL as he was purchased by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He featured for the same team in IPL 2018 and performed exceptionally well. 

Rashid Khan: The Record Breaking Teenager 

His performances have been at the forefront of Afghanistan’s success in international cricket. Very recently his heroics destroyed Bangladesh as they were swept in a 3 match bilateral series. Rashid Khan has been a force to reckon with. He was the man of the series having scalped 8 wickets from three games. Here is a saga of his records 


Fastest to 100 ODI wickets 

Having taken 100 ODI wickets in just 44 games, he is the fastest to 100 ODI wickets ever. He surpassed Aussie quick Michael Starc who took 52 matches.

Youngest To Top ICC Bowlers’ Ranking 

When he made it to the top of the ICC bowlers’ ranking for T20I, he was the youngest ever player to do so. 

Youngest International Captain 

He was the captain of the team in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers. Hence he became the youngest captain ever to lead a nation. 

Youngest ICC Associate Player Awardee 

In 2017 he was awarded the prestigious title of the ‘ICC Associate Player of the Year.’ He is the youngest ever player to receive this prestigious award. 

Second Fastest to 50 T20I Wickets 

Having scalped 50 T20I wickets in just 31 games, he is the second fastest player to do so. Sri Lanka’s Ajantha Mendis is the fastest to achieve this feat from just 26 matches. 

Best Bowling Figures in ODI 

His figures of 7 for 18 against West Indies are the best for any associate player. This is also the fourth overall best bowling performance over the journey of international cricket. 

He has a long way to go and mountains to climb. He could emerge to be one of the greatest ever and he does have what it takes to be a legend.
