South Africa vs India 1st T20: Bhuvneshwar Destroyed Proteas Batting Order, India Won by 28 Runs

South Africa vs India 1st T20. Johannesburg. India continued their victory session against the hosts, winning the first T20 match by 28 runs at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg on Sunday. Indian bowlers again did a great job and didn’t allow South African Batsmen to settle down on the crease. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 5-wicket hall led India to their first win in three-match T20 series.

Earlier South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first, but soon they realized that this is a big mistake as Rohit Sharma started aggressively and hit 2 fours and 2 sixes in 9 balls. However, Rohit got out after scoring quick 21 runs, but India did not stop. India again lost their second wicket early in the fourth over as Suresh Raina (15) sent back to the pavilion by Junior Dala (2/49) on the team score of 49.

Shikhar Dhawan (72) stood firm again and put a partnership of 59 runs for the 3rd wicket with Indian skipper Virat Kohli (26). However, any other Indian batsmen could not make high score but all together they managed to put a big target of 203 runs on the loss of 5-wickets, against the hosts.

For chasing a big target of 203 runs, South Africa could not start their inning well. Proteas lost their 3 wickets under the score of 50 runs as Bhuvneshwar Kumar (5/24) destroyed their top order. However, Reeza Hendricks (70) tried to stable South African inning, putting 81 runs partnership with Farhan Behardien (39) for the 4th wicket. But then Yajuvendra Chahal (1/39) came into play and sent Farhan back to the pavilion.

After breaking this partnership India came back into the game strongly. Bhuvneshwar Kumar again called back to bowl by captain Kohli and soon he destroyed the lower order of South Africa as well. Anyhow South Africa managed to score 175 runs in all 20 overs after the loss of 9 wickets. Hence India won the 1st T20 by 28 runs.
