South Africa vs India 5th ODI Preview: Hosts Need to Beware at the Spin-Friendly Port Elizabeth

South Africa vs India 5th ODI Preview. Port Elizabeth. Leaving the bitter memories of Johannesburg ODI behind, India will resume the hunt for their maiden ODI series triumph at South African Soil. South Africa bounced back in the six-match ODI series by winning the pink ODI at New Wanders, Johannesburg on Saturday. India is still in the strong position to win the series as they are ahead of Protease by 3-1.

South Africa will definitely charge their spirit with the last win over India. Protease played well in the last rain-affected pink ODI (DLS) and knocked India back. South Africa chased down the revised target of 202 runs and won the match by 5 wickets. However, any South African batsmen did not make a high score but all-together they anyhow managed to chase down the target with 15 balls remaining.

The confidence of South African players would have risen with this win. The comeback of star player AB de Villiers from the 4th ODI is also a plus point for the hosts. However, he failed to make a big score in the previous match but his presence can not be ignored.

St. George’s Park is known for its spin-friendly pitch. So the two wrist-spinners of Indian team Yajuvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are now again on the focus. They both have been wonderful for India so far. Jaspreet Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are also doing a good job in their department. However, in the last match bowlers were not used properly by captain Kohli.

The batting of Indian team is still a subject of concern. Failure of Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane at the top order and runs missing from the middle order batsmen should be the measure issues for Indian captain and coach. Kedar Jadhav’s injury is also a matter to worry as he did not play the last game at Johannesburg.
