Top Contenders of ICC World Cup 2019

Top Contenders of ICC World Cup 2019. The 2019 World Cup is just a few notches away and speculations are trending. In what is known as the biggest gala affair in international cricket, England would be the host for the 2019 World Cup. As the ICC World Cup 2019 is all set to kickstart from May 30 at the Oval, the teams have less than 12 months to embrace themselves.

Who Are The Top Contenders?

Any discussion about the 2019 World Cup ultimately ends up at the top contenders. Talking of contenders, some teams have been real aggressive and impressive cricket in recent times. The World Cup would surely not be a walk in the park for any one team. The tournament is bound to offer some befitting contests and hence high quality entertainment. Here are the top 3 contenders

England

England might just be the dark horse. They have been playing some great cricket in recent times and have cruised to the top of the ICC ODI rankings. The best thing going in its favor would be the fact that they would enjoy the leverage of home advantage.

They have a balanced side and their bowlers would be lethal under home conditions. Two great all-rounders in Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes will give them an edge over others. England would go all guns blazing in the 2019 World Cup.

Team India

Virat Kohli’s team looks more than prepared for the 2019 World Cup. The very presence of Virat Kohli in the side enhances their chances manifold. It looks a balanced side and India has probably found the best bowling attack it ever had. With such great balance and world-class performers in the side, India would start the tournament as favorites.

The only thing they need to sort out is the vulnerability of the middle order. India at present is at the second spot in the ICC ODI rankings. If they navigate through the conditions in England well then they have a great chance to repeat 2011’s glory.

Australia

You can never belittle them in a big tournament. They have been incredibly consistent in major tournaments and have always shown nerves of steel. Yes, they are amid a crisis post the ball-tampering row but they have time to revive. Both Steve Smith and David Warner would have served their bans by then. Australia is very likely to bounce back. They are the defending champions after all!

The only trouble they have is that of finding a new and reliable leadership. Despite Smith’s comeback, they would have to look for a new skipper who can lead and inspire the team well. It is a grey era in Australian cricket but with 2019 in sight they need to overcome the odds.

He was one of the greatest batsmen of this generation and to find his replacement would be next to impossible. Now, after his retirement, big question is that South Africa is still a Top Contenders of ICC World Cup 2019.

Having lost ABD will cost South Africa’s World Cup campaign dearly. He was a champion player and not a lot of people can do what he could. So, the big question is, are South Africa’s chances over already with AB De Villiers bidding adieu?
