WCAI Keen to Organize Women Cricket Tournament in New Delhi

The good days of Indian women cricketers are going to come. BCCI has already announced the women cricket match between IPL Trailblazers and IPL Supernovas on the basis of the IPL. Feeling excited by this the Women Cricket Association of India (WCAI) has expressed a desire to organize women’s cricket tournament in the Capital City of India soon.

Association President Rani Sharma has said that they will organize a cricket tournament for women in New Delhi. This is to promote the talent of women cricketers at the grassroots. Many former women cricketers have expressed their confidence in this.

Rani Sharma said that her association was formed in the year 1973. This year was also the organizing year of the ICC Cricket World Cup. After five years of recognition, India had hosted the first World Cup. Since then she had a big dream for the female cricketers. Her dream is coming true in some manner through the very first Women IPL Match.

Meanwhile, Secretary of WCAI Nutan Gavaskar said that “we had organized a tournament in March this year, in which women took part in huge numbers. Our full focus is concentrating on the advancement of under 16 players.”

Apart from being the younger sister of Sunil Gavaskar, Nutan is also a former Indian Women Cricketer.

The Women IPL Match:

Just before the playoffs of the current season of IPL, the BCCI will organize a T20 exhibition match on IPL for women on 22 May at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The players from Australia, New Zealand and England will also be a part of that match along with Indian women players.
