Emerging F1 star Charles Leclerc may end up signing a deal with Haas for the 2019 F1 season as Kimi Raikkonen is expected to sign an extension deal with Ferrari to remain onboard for the 2019 F1 Season.
Hence, Charles Leclerc might have to wait for longer before joining Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari even though it was largely anticipated that Leclerc will replace the outgoing Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari. Sauber driver is currently in his first season in F1 after two seasons of test driving for F1 teams.
Charles Leclerc has shown great potentials and has impressed everyone with his performance on the gird.
In 2016 the very promising Charles Leclerc won the GP3 series championship and he followed it up with an F2 championship win in 2017. In 2016 the 20-year-old driver test drove for Scuderia Ferrari and Haas and then in 2017 he test drove for Ferrari and Sauber.
As per Sauber standards, he has shown a staggering pace in his first 12 races in F1 and is currently at the 15th spot among driver ratings for this season of F1 which has been largely dominated by Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel. He has been able to get 5 top 10 finishes and added 13 points to his name.
Ferrari’s new contract with Kimi?
It is now believed that Ferrari would sign a contract with Kimi Raikkonen to extend his stay at Ferrari till 2020. This could very well spoil Leclerc’s Ferrari dreams as he will have to wait for longer now.
