Daniel Ricciardo Left Because Of Max Verstappen: Red Bull Chief

Daniel Ricciardo

Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo left all fans baffled when he decided to make the move to Renault. While it was being largely anticipated that he would be extending his romance with Red Bull Racing, he surprisingly ditched Red Bull and decided to ride Renault for his F1 future.

Red Bull feels that Max Verstappen is the main reason why Ricciardo chose to leave Red Bull and switch to Renault. Christain Horner said that Ricciardo left Red Bull Racing because he wanted to be in a leading role within a small environment.

Horner also described Ricciardo’s move to Renault as being enormously risky for his career ahead. Red Bull chief Horner said that it is a great shame that Daniel Ricciardo chose to leave Red Bull.

Daniel Ricciardo’s new deal

Daniel Ricciardo has signed a two year deal with Renault for the 2019 and 2020 F1 seasons. It was being speculated that he would sign another contract with Red Bull to stay with them till the end of the 2020 season but he stunned everyone. Red Bull feels that he did not want to be a shadow of Max Verstappen and rather be in a pivotal role.

Red Bull will now be looking for a replacement to the Austrian and Carlos Sainz might be a premier choice they would look to side with.

Carlos Sainz was replaced by Ricciardo at Renault and now Sainz might take the place of Verstappen’s teammate. Red Bull will be mulling other options too so as to have a fruitful F1 season in 2019.
