Kimi Raikkonen who won the US Grand Prix last weekend came out in defence of teammate Sebastian Vettel. Raikkonen feels that it is utterly pointless on the part of the critics to analyse Vettel’s performances this season and blame him.

This season has been full of errors and mistakes but Kimi Raikkonen stated that people must abstain from blaming Vettel for his mistakes.

Vettel is behind Lewis Hamilton by 70 points while Hamilton is on the brink of lifting his fifth world championship trophy. Given his mistakes, Sebastian Vettel has come under heavy criticism from fans and critics and Kimi Raikkonen has tried to shield Vettel from the same. Vettel and Lewis Hamilton have been at par in the first half of the season.

Later as the second half unfolded, Sebastian Vettel has had a tough time on the grid and has won just won race post the German Grand Prix.

Kimi Raikkonen and his views

A flurry of high profile and costly errors have been too expensive for Sebastian Vettel. Both Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel seem to have lost their charm towards the end of the ongoing season.

Kimi Raikkonen stated that he doesn’t know if Sebastian Vettel has made a lot of errors. Raikkonen further added that in Germany Vettel went off only due to the tricky nature of conditions.

He stated that people judge incidents way too early. Kimi Raikkonen will be taking the steering for Sauber in the next two F1 seasons.

At Ferrari he would be replaced by Charles Leclerc who has impressed everyone with his performance. Raikkonen’s win at the US GP caused a hindrance to Lewis Hamilton’s title chances and Hamilton would have loved to deal the deal at the US GP itself.
