Manchester United v Arsenal: Big Match Between Old Rivals

After a comfortable win against RB Leipzig in UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, Manchester United is ready to face Arsenal on Sunday clash in the Premier League.

Arsenal lost their last two games in the Premier League against Manchester City and Leicester City. Arsenal is now at 12th in the league table and is going to face an in-form Manchester United side tomorrow.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is going to manage his 100th game tomorrow. In the pre-match press conference, he was delighted about his 100th Manchester United game as manager. He said, “Arsenal is always gonna be difficult because they are a very good team with a good manager who has got some great ideas on how football should be played and I’m looking forward to it. Surprised it’s 100 games, it’s gone really quickly even though a lot has happened, so let’s hope I can celebrate No.100 with a good performance and a good result. I’ve enjoyed it so far.”

Manchester United was in exceptional form in recent times. After thrashing Bundesliga leader RB Leipzig at home by 5-0, Manchester United is confident against the Gunners.

Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford both were kept on the reserve bench in mid-week. Solskjaer is very happy with the depth of his squad. He said, “At the moment, we are looking like a Man United squad, I’ve got opportunities, competition for places and any successful team in the modern era of football have had the option to rest players, to rotate and that is probably the only way you can last in this most intense league in the world and also with the Champions League involved, you want to go for the trophies.”

Marcus Rashford will face Aubameyang tomorrow

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is very much accustomed to Manchester United and Arsenal rivalry from his playing days. He said, “When I played it was between us and Arsenal to win the league, that was a very fierce rivalry, there are all sorts of stories about what happened, that’s passion, the excitement, importance of those games – we knew if we beat Arsenal and we took six points off them that’d’ be us winning the league and vice versa. Some unbelievable games, some fond memories, and some bad memories, there is still a rivalry and history but now we don’t think about them or anyone as our rivals, we just need to put points on the board and it’s so early anyway.”

Solskjaer has used so many different formations in the last few matches. He has played with a 4-4-2 formation with a diamond in midfield against RB Leipzig. In the Press conference, he was asked about the formation against Arsenal. He said, “Well, it’s different demands in different systems, we’re still the same, call it the same principles of a Man United full-back – you need to be good at defending and good going forward, we need assists and goals from them [Wan-Bissaka and Shaw], both of them have played and developed and we don’t really have wide wingers like Giggsy and David Beckham and are more dependent on full-backs coming on and giving us width.”

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta also knows that very well. With due respect to the recent form of Manchester United, he said, “They can play two or three different formations… they’ve been changing some things because of the opponents, because of the quality of players they have and sometimes to change the game in certain moments.”

“We have to be prepared for that because they have that adaptability, they have a big squad and upfront they have a lot of options to do different things.”- he added.

Manchester United was unbeaten at home against Arsenal in his last 13 games. Arteta is ready to end the poor form of Arsenal at Old Trafford. “For sure our mindset is going to be to go there and win. That’s the approach we’re going to have and the gameplay we’re going to put in place.”- he said.

Manchester United is 15th in the league table and was still to win a game at Old Trafford in the Premier League this season. Arsenal is also ready to end their poor form at Old Trafford. All the fans are ready to witness an exciting match tomorrow.
