Today is the 58th birthday of Diego Maradona, the legendary footballer of the world and former football captain of Argentina.

Maradona’s full name is Diego Armando Maradona and he was born on October 30, 1960, in Lanus, Buenos Aires. Maradona is widely considered to be the best football player till date. For the FIFA Player of the Century award, he got the first position in Internet voting, and he shared a partnership with all-time great Pelé for the award.

In his football career, he played for clubs such as Argentina Junior, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Sevilla, Nevilles Old Boy, and Napoli and established world records for getting paid the huge amounts for his contracts with the club.

Maradona scored 91 caps and 34 goals in his international career. He played in four FIFA World Cup tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup 1986, in which he captained Argentina and won the tournament and the Golden Ball award to be the best player of the tournament and showed his magic against West Germany in a decisive match.

Diego is also called “the Hand of God” because, in the quarter-final round of the same tournament, he scored 2 goals in a 2-1 victory against England, which were recorded in the history of football.
