According to Manchester Evening News, Jose Mourinho is looking to bring Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal to Old Trafford this summer. The Chilean has been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena for a while, and it finally seems like he could be on his way out should the Manchester United boss offer him an escape route.
United’s long-serving midfielder Michael Carrick is set to retire at the end of the season and join up with Mourinho’s coaching staff. The Portuguese is aware that midfield is an area that he needs to address and has gone on record to state that he will be looking to bring in someone in that position in the summer.
Since then, speculation has vile as United have been linked with array of central midfielders – many of them who’re plying their trade overseas. Mourinho’s scouting net is certainly well set up in the football-rich countries such as Spain, Germany and Italy, and it seems that his next signing could be from the German Bundesliga.
Vidal has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since the days of Louis van Gaal, but due to the performances and stature of the two clubs, he opted to move to Bayern Munich and has ended up being a success for the German giants.
The Chilean has more than proven himself at Bayern and even before joining them, he impressed to a great extent while anchoring the Juventus midfielder that comprised of Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba. The former has retired from professional football while the latter is currently struggling at United.
However, Vidal’s arrival could help free up the Frenchman and his past experience of playing with him could make United appear like a more fluid unit in the middle of the park. The Chilean could sit alongside Nemanja Matic – giving Pogba the freedom to drift forward, express himself and complement the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku in the attack.
