According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur have still not given up the chase for Anthony Martial as the Frenchman appears to closer than ever to an exit from Manchester United.
The Frenchman has, on numerous occasions, made it clear that he is unhappy with life in Manchester, but now things seem to have escalated further as there are reports suggesting he could have played his last game for the Red Devils.
Martial traveled to the United States for United’s pre-season tour but left it midway to be present for the birth of his second child. There is conjecture that the Frenchman has also informed Jose Mourinho about his decision to leave the club due to the lack of playing time and because of being behind Alexis Sanchez and Marcus Rashford in the pecking order for a starting spot on the left flank.

While Chelsea appear to be front-runners in case Martial is sold to a Premier League club, Spurs are undoubtedly a close second. They have been interested in the player even before he moved to Manchester United as they had scouts watching him play in Ligue 1 for AS Monaco.
However, one thing that could prove to be a hindrance in the deal is that United are not willing to let him go on the cheap as club executive Ed Woodward is seeking a value north of £80 million for the services of the French attacker.
What could work as a sweetener is United’s interest in Spurs’ centre-back Toby Alderweireld. The Belgian had a falling out with manager Mauricio Pochettino last season and is ensure whether or not he will be a Spurs player come the 10th of August.
Daniel Levy could take advantage of this situation and include Alderweireld in the deal for Martial as a direct swap or by adding a few million pounds to convince United to part ways with the disgruntled Frenchman.
