Andy Murray Accepts Wildcard Entry For Rogers Cup

Andy Murray who has been struggling to stage a handsome comeback to tennis has taken a wildcard entry for the Rogers Cup. The Rogers Cup will be played in Toronto in August. Andy Murray is seeing this as another opportunity to announce a strong comeback.

While Andy Murray took a wildcard entry to the Rogers Cup, world number 2 Roger Federer has withdrawn from the tournament citing his scheduling as his prime concern to increase his longevity in the game. 

The Rogers Cup will be played between August 6th and August 12th in Toronto. After backing out from the event, Roger Federer would end up losing 600 points but is still likely to retain his spot in the WTP rankings.

He will stay world number 2 even after missing out on this tournament. Federer said that he was sorry to be not playing in Toronto and he is pulling out of the Rogers Cup regretfully. 

Murray’s Entry

The world former number 1 Andy Murray made a comeback from a hip surgery at Queen’s but then he missed out on Wimbledon 2018 citing his fitness as the reason. Serbian sensation Novak Djokovic went on the win the Wimbledon 2018 snatching the title from Roger Federer.

Before making an appearance at Toronto in August, Andy Murray is also scheduled to feature in a game in Washington next week.

Andy Murray, the former number 1 has dropped below 800 in the ATP rankings. The Rogers Cup is otherwise meant to feature 19 of the top 20 players in world tennis.
