Andy Murray entered the 3rd round of Washington Open and Johanna Konta in Silicon Valley Classic

British star tennis player Andy Murray and his compatriot Johanna Konta have won their respective matches in different tournaments. Andy murray has retained his good start and entered the third round of the Washington Open. Murray beat his compatriot Kyle Edmund in the second round of the men’s singles.

Former world number one Murray defeated Edmund 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 and entered the next round, where he will face Marius Copil of Romania. Marius Copil defeated J. Chardy of France in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to qualify for the third round.

Murray said after winning the match that “the way I played this match was really good. In the third set I was quite aggressive.”

It’s noteworthy that after coming back from injury Andy Murray is facing lots of problems on the tennis court. He had earlier withdrawn his name from Wimbledon as well.

Silicon Valley Classic:

Just one day before, Johanna Konta defeated the world’s most powerful player, Serena Williams, and now reached the third round of the women singles of Silicon Valley Classic Tennis Tournament.

Johanna Konta, in the second round, defeated local player Sofia Kenin 6-1, 6-4 to enter the quarter-finals. Konta, who won the title two years ago, will clash with Belgium’s Elise Mertens in the next round. Elise Mertens beat American player Ashley Kratzer 6-2, 6-0 in the second round.

Konta had earlier won his first major win of the tournament by defeating the 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena 6-1, 6-0 in less than an hour in his first match of the tournament.

This was the biggest loss for Serena Williams of all time where she could only win a single game in entire match. She was playing her 5th tournament after giving birth to her daughter Olympia.
