Andy Murray loses his comeback game to Nick Kyrgios at Queen’s

Andy Murray who was making a comeback after almost a year lost to Nick Kyrgios at Queen’s. Nick Kyrgios defeated Andy Murray 2-6 7-6 7-4 7-5. Andy Murray who was returning to tennis after a hip injury was really looking forward to the Fever-Tree Championship at Queen’s. 

Even though Nick Kyrgios lost out to Roger Federer in the semis of the Stuttgart Open, he impressed everyone. Andy Murray admitted before the game that he’d be nervous playing against Nick Kyrgios. Nick Kyrgios features on the 21st spot in the ATP rankings. 

An encouraging performance in vain 

Andy Murray has his own moments too in the contest. The 31-year-old tested the 23-year-old Nick Kyrgios at times and put up an encouraging show. Andy Murray after the game said that he wasn’t looking to win but just wanted to see how his body copes up after the injury. He also lauded Nick Kyrgios and called him a mercurial and unpredictable player. 

Murray’s encounter with Nick Kyrgios at Queen’s was his first appearance since last year’s Wimbledon. The British player is at the 156th rank in the ATP rankings.

While Andy lost, Novak Djokovic started the Fever-Tree championship with a win. Novak Djokovic defeated John Millman 6-2 6-1. He posted an easy win on his comeback game.

Novak Djokovic would now battle Grigor Dimitrov in the second round at Queen’s. This was Novak Djokovic’s first appearance at the Queen’s since 2010.
