Dan Evans Would Not Get Wildcard Entry for Wimbledon 2018

Wimbledon 2018 is all set to kick-start from July 2. Dan Evans, the British star was left disappointed as he wasn’t awarded a Wimbledon wildcard. The 28-year-old who was banned for taking cocaine will now have to play in this week’s qualifier tournament to play at Wimbledon 2018. He would not get Wildcard Entry for Wimbledon 2018.

He’s been in a good touch since his comeback in April. He finished as the runner-up in Nottingham on last Sunday at the Nature Valley Open. He is currently at the number 41 in the ATP rankings.

Dan is yet to win a career title and was banned in April 2017 for consuming cocaine. While he was denied a wildcard entry, 8 British players were rewarded wild cards entry into the main draw for Wimbledon 2018.

In Queen’s this week Dan Evans lost in the first round. He was beaten 6-4 0-6 7-5 by Adrian Mannarino. About not getting a wildcard entry at Wimbledon 2018, he said that he still has an opportunity to get into the tournament. 

Andy Murray’s uncertainty to play Wimbledon: 

Andy Murray who too lost in the first round of Queen’s is also doubtful of playing in Wimbledon 2018. After the loss to Nick Kyrgios, he said that he doubts if his fitness will endure what the Wimbledon demands.

He was making a comeback after almost a year. He had to sit out for long given his knees injury and had to face a defeat in his comeback game. In his absence for so long his ranking has stumbled to the 156th spot.
