Roger Federer after winning in Stuttgart could not carry the impetus into the finals of the Halle Open. He lost to Marin Cilic on the finals. This loss also saw Roger Federer go down in the ATP rankings as he lost his number 1 spot to Rafael Nadal yet again.
The 36-year-old will now be heading to Wimbledon as one of the favourites. 2018 has been great for him and before losing the final at Halle to Marin Cilic he had a winning streak of 20 matches at grass.
After the loss in the finals, Roger Federer said that he is happy with the tournaments that he has played for he has gained a lot of valuable information. The 20-Time Grand Slam Champion talked about his fitness ahead of Wimbledon. Wimbledon 2018 starts on July 2.
No Need to Worry Regarding My Fitness: Federer
Asked about his fitness, Roger Federer said that there is no need to worry with regards to his fitness. The 36-year-old Swiss stat said that he is fit and just needs to rest in the coming week.
He further added that he might return to practice or training in the second half of the week which would only be about tennis related training.
Roger Federer has 8 Wimbledon titles to his name which is the most held by anyone. With 98 career titles, he is approaching a handsome century of titles. But with age, his fitness often comes under doubt and he makes sure that he keeps his fan positive about his fitness.
