Halle Open finals. The 20 time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer has stormed his way to the finals of the Halle Open. The Swiss prodigy defeated Denis Kudla in the semis to book a spot in the finals. Federer defeated Denis Kudla 7-6 (7-1) 7-5 to get another step closer to winning his 10th Halle title.
He will now face Croatia’s Borna Coric in the finals of the Halle Open before he goes to play the Wimbledon 2018. Wimbledon 2018 will start from July 2.
This win against Denis Kudla is Federer’s 20th consecutive win while playing on grass. Before this he skipped the entire season of clay court matches and also missed out on the French Open.
He very recently won the Mercedes Cup last week and this will be his back to back title wins if he wins Halle Open 2018.
He has never played back to back Finals on grass on his way to Wimbledon. Roger Federer has won the Wimbledon 8 times which is a world record. Roger Federer became a pro in 1998.
Federer needs to win Halle Open Finals to remain World No. 1:
For the 36 year old Roger Federer it is mandatory to win the Halle Open to retain his number 1 ranking. He already has 9 Halle titles to his name. Can he win his 10th and also retain his number spot in the ATP rankings?
If he does not win the Halle Open then he will lose his world number 1 spot to Rafael Nadal who would then overtake him. He has held the world number spot for a record 310 weeks.
