French Open: Serena Williams And Maria Sharapova Succeeded to the Next Round

America’s Serena Williams, who returned to the Roland Garros after giving birth to the child, also succeeded in winning the first round of women’s singles. Former World No. 1 and Russian Star Maria Sharapova also won her match and made it to the next round.

Serena Williams, the former World No. 1 has won 23 Grand Slam titles so far in her shining career. She beat Czech Republic’s Kristýna Plíšková and get her second round ticket. The 36-year-old Serena beat Pliskova 7-6, 6-4 in the first round of her first Grand Slam tournament of the year. Serena, looking for her fourth French Open title, won this match in one hour and 45 minutes. Serena will face Australia’s Ashleigh Barty in the second round.

In the women’s singles, Sharapova beat Richel Hogenkamp of the Netherlands and made a place in the second round of French Open. World No. 30 Sharapova beat Hogenkamp 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 in a 1 Hour 54-minute match. In the next round, Sharapova will be up against Croatia’s Donna Vekic.

Sharapova was not in form since long, But definitely she is eyeing to the trophy on Roland Garros this year.

2016 French Open Winner Garbine Muguruza entered in the next round of French open. She beat Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia 7-6, 6-2 in a match that lasted two hours and five minutes.

Samantha Stosur of Australia defeated Belgian Yanina Wickmayer 6-2, 6-4.
