Now, Roger Federer, 36 will meet Australia’s Matthew Ebden in the next stage of Halle Open 2018. Remember, Roger Federer needs to win the Halle trophy to safeguard his world number 1 position.

If he fails to win his 10th Halle Title then he would once again slip to the second spot and Rafael Nadal will claim the top spot again.

This was Roger Federer’s 18th straight win on grass but he was made to work hard for this. Benoit Paire put up an inspiring show and Roger Federer failed to win two match points in the final set to avoid the tiebreaker. Roger Federer has 98 titles to his name and 9 Halle Open titles already.

Winning Halle and Records for Federer:

Winning at Halle Open 2018 will give Roger Federer his 99th career title. He will also win his 10th title at the Halle Open. Federer would surely want to win this as a part of his preparation for Wimbledon 2018 and also to remain at the top of the ATP rankings.

Can he get his 10th Halle title before he proceeds to the Wimbledon? Wimbledon 2018 will get underway from July 2. Winning the Wimbledon would mean a century of career titles for Roger Federer.
