Italian Open: Halep and Svitolina to meet in Final, Nadal beat Djokovic in Semi-final

World No. 1 Simona Halep and World No. 4 Elina Svitolina will meet in the final of Italian Open tomorrow on Sunday. In the First men semi-final of the tournament World No. 2 Spanish star Rafael Nadal beat Novak Djokovic in their meeting number 51 on the tennis court.

In the first women, semi Halep beat Russian star World No. 4 Maria Sharapova 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. In the 2 hours long game Sharapova looked in good control initially and comfortably won the first set of the match. But soon Halep returned strongly and gave no chance to Sharapova to won the match.

In the other women semi-final World No. 4 Elina Svitolina of Ukraine beat Estonian player Anett Kontaveit in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. This was the comfortable victory for Svitolina. Now she will face Simona in the final of Italian Open tournament.

Men’s First Semifinal:

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic met 51 times in the open era and World No. 2 beat out of form Djokovic in straight sext 7-6, 6-3.

However, Djokovic had a slight advantage against Nadal as he had won 26 times out of their previous 51 meetings but Nadal defeated him this time just like their last meeting in the last year. Nadal had also defeated Djokovic in their very last meeting in Madrid Open 2017.

Another semifinal will be played between World No. 3 Alexander Zverev and World No. 5 Marin Čilić. The winner will meet Rafael Nadal in Final.

The Race of ATP Rankings:

If Rafael Nadal wins the Italian Open title this Sunday then He will again occupy the World No. 1 position in ATP Rankings because Roger Federer is not playing any Tennis tournament these days.

But if he could not be able to win the final then Federer will stay there on top of the ATP Rankings until June 24 and just after 2 days on June 26, the Wimbledon seedings will be announced.
