British tennis star Laura Robson has been stunned by an injury setback. The 24-year-old tennis player will be undergoing a hip surgery in a bid to get her career a saver. Laura Robson has not played any matches since May and has rather focused more on doubles to not exaggerate her injury any further.
The former number 1 from Britain has been struggling with a wrist issue since 2014 and now comes another injury set back. She has plummeted to the 333rd position in the world rankings given her injury woes.
Laura Robson won the Wimbledon Junior Girls Championship 10 years ago at the age of 14. In July 2013 she rose to the 27th position which is her highest ever. In the summer Olympics 2012, she featured with Andy Murray in the mixed doubles.
She ended up bagging a silver medal in mixed doubles. In 2013 she followed it up with a career-high ranking. She was dropped from the tennis rankings towards the start of 2015. She then made a comeback in July 2015 at 906th ranking.
Ever since her return from her previous injury, she has been struggling for form. Now with another injury fiasco, she will on the sidelines yet again.
Laura Robson and Wimbledon Wildcard Entry:
She was not even given the wildcard entry for the Wimbledon main draw or for the qualifying. Even if she had got an entry to Wimbledon she would be in the operation theatre at that time.
She said that she has no option now but to go for the surgery. Wimbledon starts on July 2 and all tennis fans are excited.
