American number 1 John Isner sees Roger Federer’s longevity as a source of inspiration for him to do well even at the age of 33. By reaching the semi-finals of the Wimbledon 2018 he rose to his career-best rating and took the 8th spot in the ATP rankings.
The 33-year-old American has now had a 12-year long career in professional tennis and still continues to go strong. In the latter years of his career, he has been as good as world number 2 Roger Federer in his 30’s.
He lost to Kevin Anderson in the semis of the Wimbledon 2018 who eventually lost to Novak Djokovic in the finals. John Isner has 13 career titles to his name in Men’s singles.
He is known to be one of the most clinical servers in the ATP tour and currently, he has the third most aces in the history of ATP having served aces in excess of 10000.
In Wimbledon 2010 he played the longest match in the history of the game which lasted for more than 11 hours over 3 days. He defeated Nicolas Mahut in this very unique game of Tennis’ history.

Isner said that Roger Federer is an alien and seeing his success at the age of 34, 35 and now 36 inspires him and encourages him for he is approaching the same phase in his life. He called Federer an alien for he feels that he is different from anyone else.
