Saint Petersburg Open: Dominic Thiem wins the title

In the finals of the Saint Petersburg Open, Austrian star tennis player Dominic Thiem defeated Slovak Martin Klizan 6-3, 6-1 to win the title. This is the 11th title of Dominic Thiem’s career. He won the title for the first time on the Indoor Hard Court.

At the eighth position in the ATP rankings, Thiem took an hour and eight minutes to defeat Martin Klizan. This is the first victory of the Austrian player on the 65th ranked Martin Klizan.

The top seed Dominic finished the match in just 68 minutes and didn’t find it hard to beat the Slovak player at the end.

Dominic expressed his views on Saint Petersburg Open

The 25-year-old player said after the match that, “It’s my first indoor title and it’s really amazing.”

“I felt myself a bit tired at the end but I’m really happy that I made it.” he said with joy.

“It always means a lot to win a tournament. There’re not too many guys who win a tournament every year so it’s really special,” he added.

Dominic Thiem thanked the people there who came to support him in the tournament in his style. Along with this, he also promised them to come back next year and defend the title.

“I’m happy that I won my first indoor title in Saint Petersburg. I couldn’t find the better place to win my first indoor title,” Thiem concluded.
