Karolína Plíšková of Czech Republic has made it to the quarter-finals of the women’s singles category of Tianjin Open. She defeated Slovenia’s Polona Hercog and made it to the last-eight stage. No. 1 seed Plíšková beat Hercog 6-1, 6-2 in a one-sided match on Wednesday.
In the next round, she will face the winner of the match between her compatriot B. Krejčíková and K. Boulter of Great Britain.
In another match fourth seed Aryna Sabalenka also confirmed the place in the quarter-finals without losing any set. She beat world number-84 Magda Linette. This Belarusian player won the match 6-1, 6-3 in an hour and 13 minutes.
“I’m just happy that I didn’t spend that much time on the court today and I can rest a little bit and prepare for my next match,” Sabalenka says after the match.
“I was thinking I need to win this tournament – but at the moment I don’t care about Singapore. “At the moment I’m focused on each match,” the Belarusian added.
“In the second set I started to be nervous, I don’t know why,” admitted Sabalenka afterwards competing the match..
“Probably because I lost my serve, and I had something to think about. I was playing too much aggressive – so I just tried to play a little bit deeper and not too aggressive,” she concluded.

Fifth seed Su Wei Hsieh also entered in the last final – 8 defeating Veronika Kudermetova 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.
Sixth seed Petra Martić defeated F. Liu of China 1-6, 6-0, 6-1 after losing the first set.
