Wimbledon 2018 Final: Mom Serena will clash with Kerber in the final

Wimbledon 2018 Final. Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber will face each other in the Wimbledon title match on Saturday again after two years. In the final of Australian Open in 2016, Kerber had defeated Serena.

World number-10 Germany’s tennis player Angelique Kerber has made it to the final of the women’s singles category of the third Grand Slam of the year, Wimbledon. The two-time Grand Slam champion Germany’s Angelique defeated Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 6-3 in the first semifinal.

She made place in the All England tournament final for the second time. Before that, she had played the Wimbledon final in 2016, where Serena defeat her.

At the same time, seven-time Wimbledon champion Serena beat Germany’s Julia Goerges. Serena beat her 6-2, 6-2 in the second semifinal match to reach in the title match for the ninth time. This is the best performance of 36-year-old Serena  ever since she became a mother.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion is one step away from winning his first grand slam title after his pregnancy.

It’s noteworthy that Kerber has played 3 grand slam tournament finals, out of which she has managed to win two. Se defeated Serena in 2016 to win her first Grand Slam title as the Australian Open. This year she had already won the US Open.

22 years after Legendary Steffi Graf

If Kerber is successful in winning the Wimbledon trophy by defeating Serena on Saturday, she will be Germany’s first female player to achieve this honor after 22 years after legendary Steffi Graf. Graf won her last Wimbledon in 1996 and this was also the last Wimbledon title for Germany in women’s single.
