Wimbledon 2018: Rafael Nadal made it to the quarterfinals after 7 long years

Spain’s star tennis player Rafael Nadal has entered the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time after seven years. To reach into the quarterfinals Nadal defeated Czech Republic’s Jiri Vesely. Before this in 2011, Nadal had entered the final of the third Grand Slam of the year. Nadal beat Jiri Vesely 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 in the straight sets of the pre-quarterfinals.

On the other hand, the three-time champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia has also made a place in the quarter-finals.

Rafael Nadal had lost in the 2011 Wimbledon final to Serbia’s star player Novak Djokovic. After this, in 2012, he had to miss out in the second round of the tournament and lost in the first round in 2013.

Nadal could only go up to the last 16th round of the tournament in 2014. In 2015, he was defeated in the second round and due to injury in 2016, he could not join the All England tournament.

Last year, Nadal had lost to Luxembourg’s player Giles Muller in the last 16th round of the five set.

Djokovic defeated Khachanov

Djokovic beat Russia’s Karen Khanchanov 6-4, 6-2, 6-2. In this match, Serbia’s star player made a dozen deadly mistakes, and with the total 29 winners, Khachanov showed the way out.

The 12th seed Djokovic will face Japan’s Kei Nishikori in the next round of the Wimbledon tournament. Nishikori beat Ernest Gulbis 4-6, 7-6 (5), 7-6, (10), 6- 1.

Djokovic said after the match, “I’m happy.”

He has reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals in a total of 10 times and only Jimmy Connors (14) and Boris Becker (11) are the other players who could reach to this stage more than him in this prestigious tournament.
