Wimbledon 2018: Roger Federer and Venus Williams qualifies for the third round

The last champion Roger Federer entered in the next round of Wimbledon 2018 defeating Lukas Lacko in the men’s singles match here on Wednesday. While Venus Williams defeated Alexandra Dulgheru in the women’s singles and entered the third round. Top-seeded Federer thus continued his winning streak in Wimbledon and won his 26th consecutive set.

The Swiss star won 6-4 6-4, 6-1 in a match lasting 89 minutes against Lukas Lacko. Now this 36-year-old player is jointly second in terms of winning the consecutive sets in Wimbledon. Earlier, from the third round of Wimbledon 2005 to 2006 final he had won 34 consecutive sets.

Now in the third round, Federer will face Germany’s world number 64 Jan-Lennard Struff. This is Federer’s 20th Wimbledon.

The 20-time grand slam winner is in an attempt to become the second player to win 9 singles titles after Martina Navratilova in All England Club.
