WTA Finals: Sloane Stephens beat Kiki Bertens and saved Osaka to get out

American tennis player Sloane Stephens defeated Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands in a match played at the WTA Finals here. By defeating Bertens, Stephens saved the Japanese player Naomi Osaka from being out of the tournament. Stephens beat Bertens 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 in the women’s singles match.

This victory clearly means that all four players of the Red Group can still qualify. Osaka has faced defeat in his last two matches, but she still has the chance to qualify. She has to win her matches and expect other results to be on her side.

Apart from her, the Czech Republic’s Caroline Pliskova also made it to the semi-finals. She defeated her opponent Petra Kvitova 6-3, 6-4 in straight sets. She is the first player to make a semi-final place.

“Thank you so much for staying as I know it’s after everyone’s bedtime,” the American Tennis player told the crowd.

Naomi Osaka also showed some hope. However, Angelique Kerber but still she said, “I feel like this match was sort of a continuation of my last match in a way that I feel like I just didn’t serve well, in either of them.”

“I’m playing against the best players in the world, so I feel like I want to be in top form, but I’m not really there,” she added.

“So it’s a little bit depressing,” she expressed her lose.
