WTA Mumbai Open: China's Zheng Saisai will be top seed player

    China’s world number 57 player in WTA ranking Zheng Saisai will be the top ranking player in the second L & T Mumbai Open. This tournament is to be held at the Cricket Club of India, from October 27. This women’s tennis tournament prize money of $ 125,000.

    In addition to with 24-year-old Zheng, last year’s runner-up and world’s 79th ranked Dalila Jakupovic, America’s 94th ranked Sachia Vickery and Serbia’s 96th ranked Olga Danilovic, will be participating in the top 100.

    Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) Secretary Sunder Iyer briefed about this to the media in a conference on Wednesday.

    This ranking is for the day on which the players sent their entries for the tournament.
    In the main draw of the tournament, 32 players from 19 countries will participate.

    In this, 22 players will get direct entry whereas the rest will qualify for the place through the qualification round and wild card.

    The winner will get USD 20000 and 160 WTA points, while the runner-up will go with the amount of USD 11000 and 95 WTA points.

    Zheng has won two singles and three doubles WTA titles so far. Zakupovich has won two WTA doubles titles so far as well.

    Iyer said that Ankit Raina is the last player to make a place in the main draw through direct entry. He reached the quarter-finals last year here.
