Manchester United had a mixed start to the season. The Red Devils are in 12th in the Premier League table with 10 points in their first 7 games. They are 8 points behind the top spot.
In the UEFA Champions League, they have a decent start. After beating Paris Saint- Germain in Paris and thrashing RB Leipzig at home they lost against Istanbul Başakşehir F.K. in Turkey. Though they are at the top of their group.
Manchester United always faced a problem with its consistency in the last couple of seasons. This season they had already faced the same problem.
They have added Donny Van De Beek, Alex Telles, Edinson Cavani, Facundo Pellistri, and Amad Traore last summer.
But they still need some serious recruitment in some areas. They can add some players in their squad in the following areas next January.
Manchester United needs a new center back. They have faced some problems with their defensive flaws this season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prefers to have a left-footed central back in his squad.
Manchester United has 6 central backs in the squad. But Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Eric Baily are not fit enough. Axel Tuanzebe is also very injury prone. To challenge the trophies Manchester United needs serious recruitment in their defense.
RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano is on the target list of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Some may suggest there is an overload in the Manchester United team in this position. But the quality of Manchester United in this particular area is still a question. Manchester United may need some addition in this area as well.
Fred, McTominay, and Matic are in good form but there are still some noticeable flaws in their game.
Another position that needs a solution. Manchester United was interested in Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho. But they failed to match the asking price of the German club for the English winger. Finally, they signed 18 years old Amad Diallo from Atalanta who is an emerging star. Though he will join the squad in January.
Manchester United still needs an experienced player in that position preferably a left-footer. The Red Devils are eyeing Ousmane Dembélé in the January transfer window as per the report.
