The English Football League has lifted the embargo on Birmingham City enabling it to sign 5 players. Birmingham City can now sign 5 players before the transfer window ends. The embargo was imposed on Birmingham City after they recorded losses beyond limits for three consecutive seasons.
In the last three seasons, the Birmingham City made losses beyond the limit of 39 Million Euros.
An English Football League disciplinary committee to which the matter has been referred will now decide upon it. In case any breach is found, the disciplinary committee of the English Football League can punish Birmingham.
Till the matter is being evaluated by the disciplinary committee Birmingham cannot make any payments for any transfer fee or compensations.
The transfer window of the English Football League will come to an end on August 9. But till the end of this month players can join on the basis of loan agreements.
19th for Birmingham City
Birmingham finished at a dismal 19th position out of 24 in the last season under Garry Monk. The Blues will love to return with impetus in this season and the lifting of this ban will bring cheers across the club and the fans.
Birmingham City Club finished second at the English Football League in the 2006-2007 season and the 2008-2009 season. The Blues are yet to be champions at the English Football League.
Now it would be interesting to see as to which players with the Blues eye as they now have a great opportunity to revive.
