Lewis Hamilton with a win at the Hungary Grand Prix extended his championship lead to be almost invincible. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff was delighted to see Lewis Hamilton notch up another win. But at the same time, he admired the surge and the new wave shown by the Ferrari and said that Ferrari has set the real benchmark for the 2018 season.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff also said that Mercedes will leave no stone unturned in order to match the performance shown by Ferrari.
At the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday which marked the last race before the summer break of F1, Lewis Hamilton shared the podium with Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.
While Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel finished second, his teammate Kimi Raikkonen finished third. The fourth spot was taken by Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo followed by Lewis Hamilton’s teammate Valtteri Bottas.
Lewis Hamilton now has 6 wins at the Hungarian Grand Prix hence extending his record of having the most wins in the Hungarian Grand Prix. He took a handsome 24 points lead over his Ferrari rival Sebastian Vettel in the world championship for this year.
Toto Wolff said it feels great to realize that the team has understood more and can emerge to be even more competitive in hot races which come by in the future.
He appreciated Ferrari and said that Ferrari is pushing others to catch up to its heroics. He further added that Mercedes have not been the challenger since 2013 and that made it difficult for them to set the benchmark.
