Manchester United will face Real Sociedad tonight in the UEFA Europa League Round of 32 clashes. As an ongoing restriction of the COVID-19 pandemic, the game will be played in a neutral venue. Both the teams have already traveled to Turin for the clash.
Both the managers have provided an early update on their plans and teams ahead of the Europa League tie.
Manchester United has some serious injury issues before the tie. Paul Pogba, Donny Van De Beek, and Edinson Cavani are out of injury. A question mark over the involvement of Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay as well. Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told that Pogba will be out for few more weeks. He said, “Paul is recovering well.”
“He’s starting the treatment but it will still be a few weeks. He won’t be playing in February, that’s for sure, it’s still a few weeks before we see Paul definitely.”
“Apart from that, we have a couple of doubtful ones, if they’ll be fit enough – Anthony and Scott.”- he added.
“Donny and Edinson are injured, unfortunately, muscle injuries, so they won’t travel.”
Manchester United has included Amad Diallo and Shola Shoretire to face the Spanish club. Ole said they are there to make an impact. He said, “Yeah they’re in the traveling squad. Not just for the experience, they’re there to make an impact if they have to. The two boys have done well in training and they are talents that we want to give experience to. First of all, they’re traveling, and then let’s see if they come on the pitch.”
“It’s one of the things we do with our youngsters. They come in and they travel, step-by-step, layer-by-layer and suddenly they’re on the pitch. That’s the thing – we do have a plan and a program in place that we try to stick to. Obviously when there are injuries or absentees or illness then maybe they’ll get the chance before we expected, but the two of them have done well.” -he added.
On the other hand, the Real Sociedad boss Imanol Alguacil has confirmed Carlos Fernandez is out of the game but Adnan Januzaj and David Silva should be involved. Former Premier League player Nacho Monreal (Arsenal) and Mikel Merino (Newcastle United) can be featured as well.
