Daniel Ricciardo, the 28-year-old Red Bull driver will be in high demand once his contract with Red Bull ends in 2018. The Aussie has been highly impressive and finished 4th at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
McLaren is in negotiations with Daniel Ricciardo to rope him for their next F1 season. While McLaren is keen to have him, the two top teams Mercedes and Ferrari too might pitch for him. For Ferrari, Kimi Raikkonen’s contract too would come to an end this year opening up a potential spot.
McLaren wants to keep Fernando Alonso, their leading driver for the 2019 season as well. But Fernando Alonso is not sure if he will pursue a career in F1 or call it a day. Alonso is highly likely to be racing in the Indianapolis 500 next year to complete his triple crown. Graham Hill is the only man in the F1 history to complete the triple crown.
Daniel Ricciardo’s Career:
Daniel Ricciardo who has 7 Grand Prix wins to his name is one of the best modern-day drivers on the grid. He looks a premier option for McLaren if Alonso decides to leave. Even if Alonso decides to stay, McLaren might still be inclined to have Ricciardo in their team.
While McLaren will be keen to have him, will Ricciardo find McLaren attractive enough? McLaren’s performance has not been very good of late.
Also, the fact that Red Bull has announced a Honda engine shift may also make Ricciardo wanting to stay with Red Bull only. Only time will tell as to which team successfully ropes in this brilliant driver.
