Ronald Araujo scored his first goal for FC Barcelona against Valencia on Saturday. Blaugrana took the lead from his goal. He kicked an amazing acrobatic valley to the ball fell to him slowly and confirmed the goal and celebrated that goal by showing his white bottom shirt written “The glory is of god”, and made an ‘A’ letter by his fingers. It shows that he is a believer person with a lot of faith.
But in a few minutes, Valencia scored an equalizer and pulled up a draw by making it 2-2 in Maxi Gomez’s amazing finish. Araujo admits that he had mixed emotions on that match he scored but unfortunately, they couldn’t maintain the lead.
“It’s a shame that we drew. It’s bittersweet for me because we wanted the three points”- he told the media after the game ends.
Araujo added, “I’m happy to have scored my first goal with Barcelona.”
Valencia maintained a strong defensive lineup throughout the game. Barca King Messi tried to score by dodging the defense but failed. Also, Barca missed some chances that day as Araujo also said “We made some mistakes at the back that we cannot make, but we have to work [on them]. It’s a shame because we had chances and the ball didn’t go in. If we’d have scored another goal, we’d have been more relaxed”.
It could be a proud moment for Araujo if they finish with a lead of 2-1 and the winning goal was given by the 21 years old defender. Though Araujo took only 14 matches to made his first goal in Barca’s first team.
Ronald Araujo joined as a Defender in Barca B at the end of 2019. He worked with the first team after a few months, he played a debut match against Visel Kobe. Again, he rejoins Barca B for a Promotional play-off in July 2020.
On 5th October 2020, he played his senior team debut against Sevilla as a second Uruguayan defender after Martin Caceres in Barca. Unfortunately, he received the red card after 13 minutes of his play for a challenge on Javier Hernandez.
It’s quite depressing for a player who is playing his official debut in such a big team. But he took it sportingly by saying, “I’m really happy, it’s a dream for me, you always dream when you are little of making your debut especially for the first team.”
“I’ll have to look at it again, but it’s not a foul for me. I put my arm in, but it’s shoulder to shoulder and he went over.”
“It’s the ref’s decision, but it’s not really going to spoil my debut, so I’m happy.”
Araujo pretends to win the next match against Real Valladolid saying “We have to correct our mistakes, but we have to think about Tuesday.”
Also, Araujo dedicated that mesmerizing goal to his parents and colleagues. Because scoring the first goal in Barca’s first team he thinks “It’s the best goal I’ve scored because of what it means, and I want to dedicate it to my partner and my parents.”
