After winning the Le Mans 24 on Debut, Fernando Alonso is yet another step closer to completing the Triple Crown. Fernando Alonso said that now he is highly prioritising the Indianapolis 500. A win at the Indianapolis will make him only the second man in the history of F1 to compete a Triple Crown. Can Fernando Alonso do it?
He also said that he will think about his career ahead after the summer break of F1. There are all sorts of speculations about his career post his Le Mans 24 win. Presently he is serving his 17th season of F1.
Graham Hill is the only man in the history of F1 to complete a Triple Crown of Motorsport. He is the only driver to have won Monaco Grand Prix, Le Mans 24 and Indianapolis 500. Fernando Alonso has already won the first two. Can he now win the third and recreate history?
Graham Hill won the Indianapolis Race in 1966 followed by a win in Le Mans 24 in 1972. As for the Monaco Grand Prix, he has won it five times. Among the active drivers in modern day F1, Fernando Alonso and Juan Pablo Montoya are the only two drivers to have won two out of the three events.
Speaking about the future:
When asked about his future he said that he doesn’t think too much about how competitive he will be in the next year. He said that it’s impossible to predict. The 36-year-old driver might just decide to stay with McLaren and skip the Monaco GP in 2019.
