Xavi Hernandez set to leave Qatar, FC Barcelona on alert

FC Barcelona on alert as Xavi Hernandez is set to leave his job as coach of Qatari club Al Sadd, according to a report in the Middle East.

Former FC Barcelona midfielder is highly linked to taking charge of the team for a long time. The FC Barcelona legend even rejected the managerial position in January 2020 after the sacking of Ernesto Valverde as he was on a contract with the Qatari club Al Sadd.

But as per some recent reports, Xavi Hernandez will not have his contract renewed at Al Sadd and will leave the club at the end of the current campaign. It gives FC Barcelona management a big boost in their pursuit.

FC Barcelona failed to deliver their best this season under Ronald Koeman. Though the Cules won the Copa Del Rey, they failed to fulfill the expectations. Some even suggested sacking Koeman after the end of the season.

On the other hand, Qatari side Al Sadd won the league with an ‘invincible’ campaign. His team became the second team in the Qatari Stars League’s history to record an “Invincibles” campaign, following Al Duhail’s groundbreaking triumph during the 2017/18 domestic season.

The speculation was increased after Xavi’s comment on newly re-appointed Barca president Joan Laporta. Xavi said, “He is the best president I ever had. ”

“Laporta is a good friend. I know him very well, he will do the best for Barca.”

“He is a good president. In my opinion, the best president I have ever had, so he will get Barcelona back, both on the pitch and financially. There are many issues to resolve but Laporta can fix everything. We are in contact. I am very happy for him.”- he added.
